This page contains a
selection of the wildlife photographs that I have taken
in Emsworth and the surrounding area over the past couple
of years, including many on Brook Meadow. I make no
claims as a photographer. I take my camera around with me
and the photos are a visual record of my wildlife
observations.

Photos are arranged in
reverse chronological order, with the most recent ones at
the top. All photos have been compressed and reduced in
size to around 50kb to make them suitable for
downloading.
You can
access any particular image or set of images by using the
"Find in this page" facility on your browser (Ctrl
F on the keyboard). eg type in Redshank, Clover or Orchid
and it will take you to the photos of various species of
this name. Or to go to sites type in Brook Maedow,
Langstone, Thorney, etc.
Equipment
Most of the regular
photos up to Feb 20 2006 were taken with a Minolta
Dimage Z1 (with 10x optical zoom). After that date
most of the non-digiscoped photos were taken with a
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5 (with 12x optical zoom)
which I bought on Ebay.
For digiscoping I use a
Fujifilm Finepix M603 the lens of which fits
neatly into the eyepiece of my telescope. The scope I
have used for most of the digiscoped photos is a Kowa TSN
601spotting scope with a 20-40x zoom. In digiscoping, I
usually have the eyepiece zoom on 40x and the camera on
normal; this cuts down on vignetting. I simply hold the
camera up to the eyepiece of my telescope, click and hope
for the best. I have tried attachments, but they are
terribly fiddly and I don't have the patience for
them.
